AEO (Answer Engine Optimization)
Optimizing for AI answers; narrower than GEO since AI does more than answer.
AI Visibility
How often, how prominently and how accurately a brand is mentioned and cited in AI answers.
AI Visibility Index
VISIBILIS metric combining mention, citation, placement and competition into one visibility score.
Citation
The source reference or link an AI answer is based on.
Purchase decisions made invisibly in AI chat, untracked by classic analytics.
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)
Marketing discipline to increase a brand visibility in AI systems; the answer-engine counterpart to SEO.
Grounding / RAG
Method by which an LLM retrieves external, current sources live and builds them into the answer (Retrieval-Augmented Generation).
LLM (Large Language Model)
Language model (e.g. GPT, Gemini, Claude) forming the technical core of AI systems.
Mention
A brand named in an AI answer (even without a link).
Share of AI
A brand share of all brand mentions on a topic in AI answers.
